You know a great spot from the second you walk in: the warmth of the space, the hum of conversation, the familiar smell of espresso beans in the air. And in a city like London where it seems a new café pops up on every street corner, it’s the thoughtful details that set the good apart from the great.

We’ve been lucky enough to supply products to some incredible coffee shops across the UK, so we thought we’d take a closer look at a few of our customers and explore what makes them stand out.

Step inside Fabrica and you’re met with calm. There’s a quiet confidence to the space - green walls, soft curves, and a central island that doubles as a pastry station and espresso bar. It’s refreshingly open without feeling like you're in a vast space.

Fabrica uses the Atelier Letter Board to share their coffee menu with subtlety, and the Bakery Display Case to house their daily pastries beautifully. It’s the perfect mix of utility and aesthetic, and a quiet nod to good design.

Tucked inside London’s buzzing Boxhall precinct, Boki Coffee knows how to make an entrance. Before you even step through the door, their custom Swing Sign catches your eye—a simple black and white design pointing the way to good coffee.

Inside, things are just as considered. Their baked goods are neatly displayed with Counter Signs, showcasing their outstanding banana bread and vegan flapjacks, among a mix of other goodies, all housed in our Bakery Display Case. It’s slick, minimal, and welcoming.

While not a London-based cafe, we wanted to highlight Root & Branch - a roastery that stands out in Belfast's specialty coffee scene. Their space feels more like a creative workshop than your typical café: warm lighting, open shelving, and a communal table that invites you to converse.

From the street, their clean white A-Frame Sign does exactly what good signage should—grabs your attention without shouting, and directs you to where the good coffee is. Inside, the Studio Roller menu keeps things simple but creative, and just adds to the warm atmosphere.

It’s the Little Things

It’s not just the beans or the brewing method (though that helps). It’s the full experience from the moment someone spots your café walking down the street, to the moment they take their first sip. Clear signage, calm interiors, and details that make people feel looked after.

At George & Willy, we believe these details matter. We design products that help make your space feel considered—whether that’s a menu board, a countertop sign, or a lightbox sign that stands out both day and night.

It’s a buzz seeing our signs pop up around London—a city where great design and even better coffee seem to go hand in hand. There’s no shortage of beautiful spaces doing clever things, and we know there are plenty more George & Willy pieces out there. If you’ve spotted one (or have one yourself), we’d love to see it. Flick us a message—we’re always on the lookout for our next favourite.
